The First Principle Of Reiki
By: Mary Brown

The first principle of Reiki states, namely today do not worry. This phrase is meaningful when practicing Reiki, or in day to day living. There are several purposes behind the origins of and using this phrase as the first principle for Reiki. This principle has expanded to be life a philosophy for people who practice Reiki. This principle can be said to have originated with the beginning of Reiki, out of several different sources and ideas. It is the same philosophy behind several different proverbs and it is said that the ancient god of Avesta stated the same thing. They all believe that good words and good deeds originate from happy thoughts. In relation to these principles, Reiki has developed a method in which letting go of anxiety and worry allows one to see goodness.

Medicine Reiki, a Perfect Union of East and West
By: Samantha Hall

The bear and the eagle, Father Sun and Mother Earth. Nope, this is not an animal or environmental write-up. But rather, this short write-up is about Native American medicine practices and how it can be combined with another Eastern technique called Reiki to come up with a healing method that channels the life force energies of everything that surrounds us.

Practitioners refer to this as Medicine Reiki, a technique which combines the medicinal approaches of Native Americans and the rather spiritual approaches of Japanese Reiki.

But medicine Reiki was not created to surpass any other forms of Reiki but it was created because of a realization that there is a way to broaden and deepen the understanding of the energy that binds us all together. It can be seen as a natural course of action, from a general concept as Reiki, to more specialized forms like medicine Reiki.

By integrating Native American concepts of healing, beliefs and practices to the knowledge of channeling the life force energy of Reiki, healing takes place faster than when using regular Reiki or ordinary Native American medicines alone. How so, you might ask? The answer all lies on how these two elements work.

We take medicines to heal our physical ailments. But because medicines heal only the physical aspects of our body, the possibility of the illness or disease striking twice is not that far off. Medicines offer merely temporary relief. Reiki on the other hand, is an encompassing discipline which targets the physical, mental, spiritual and mental aspects of our existence. Reiki practitioners use the infinite energy that surrounds us, channels that energy and allow it to flow to anyone or anything that needs healing.

By combining these two elements of healing, you’ll get medicine energy that heals beyond its normal capacity. The combination heals both the physical state and the inner dispositions of the body faster as well.

The concept of medicine Reiki is relatively new. It was K'sitew who founded this branch of Reiki in the late 90s. From then on it grew and the practice expanded to include other energies.

The good thing about medicine Reiki is that it can only be used for healing. Unlike when taken alone, medicines can be good and bad, a dualistic energy source. Reiki is a monadic energy which means it is only good energy thus cannot do any harm. When Reiki is integrated with medicine, the dualistic energy of the latter is converted into a monadic energy resulting to a positive form of energy whose only capacity is to heal and not damage or hurt someone.

What also makes medicine Reiki different is that the healing process is done in groups or in small communities. Participation of the community is necessary during the healing sessions creating a closer bond between individuals which is great for sharing energy. The closer the bonds between the members of the group, the greater the energy flows within the group, the better and faster the healing process.

Since the founding of this Reiki technique, more healing methods have developed which draws its origins from Native American medicines.

And as long as practitioners exist, this Reiki healing technique will continue to grow and expand bringing forth new healing methods or techniques that will help people challenge their health and energy levels.

Use Of Breathing Techniques
 In Reiki
By: Richard Johnson

In Reiki, breathing techniques and methods are one of the devices used to help with a change of energy flow and healing. Learning the breathing techniques in Reiki is one of the first steps in knowing how to use the energy change process for healing. Reiki utilizes what they call deep breathing techniques. These techniques allow you to become more conscious of the chakras that are being accessed to promote healing. It also allows you to more easily tap into the universal energies.

The first type of breathing to utilize when practicing Reiki breathing is the short breath. This is how most people regularly breathe. It consists of breathing through the nose and feeling the upper part of the lungs before exhaling. You will want to recognize the inhaling as universal energy and exhaling as a release of negative energies. The second step in breathing is filling your lower body in the location of the stomach and diaphragm. When inhaling, you should notice your belly expanding. When you exhale, your stomach should shrink. This filling of your body in this way is considered to be a full breath that is often used in meditation. The third breathing technique includes picturing that you are filling your rib cage with air. This constitutes a complete full breath. When you are breathing completely, you should be filling first your lungs, then your diaphragm, and then allowing the breath to expand into your ribs. This will slow you down in order to allow you to call the universal energies with the help of deep breathing.

One aspect of the breathing technique in Reiki is imagining these breaths in relation to light. When inhaling, you should imagine a light filling your different chakras through the breath. With your mind and thoughts, you can move the light into any desirable area. This will help you start circulation of the various energies that have previously been blocked. Many people use these breathing techniques not only in Reiki, but also during various types of meditation. When concentrating on the breath, one is able to become in a more relaxed state. There will also be a change in one's level of consciousness. In doing this, they will permit the universal energies to begin flowing through them, while using the Reiki technique.

The Reiki breathing techniques are most effective when practiced consistently and in a disciplined manner. When practicing Reiki outside of a group session or in the absence of a practitioner, the breath is the first step to enable a person to use Reiki techniques in healing. Knowing proper breathing techniques can greatly help to make the remainder of the Reiki process more fulfilling. Deep breathing is also good for you and beneficial for your mental state when practiced on a consistent basis. It encourages you to relax and remain in a healed state of mind, as well as balancing your body by utilizing your breath.
